Trish often  finds time to enjoy one of her passions in life: running.

Trained as a licensed clinical social worker by many of the masters in the fields of individual and family therapy, Trish approaches problems with a realistic optimism and an enduring faith in our human capacity to change and grow. Her areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, behavioral and chemical addictions, codependency,  spirituality, trauma, and therapy for couples of all kinds.

As a therapist, Trish is known for her warmth, faith, humor and creativity when facing difficult life problems. Trish was selected by Baltimore Magazine as one of the area’s 17 Top Therapists in 2001, just before moving her life and practice to Stuart, Florida.  She would tell you that sometimes life takes some very surprising turns, and only afterward do we fully understand why we needed to act with courage and go forward into what was as yet unknown. But that’s often how it is.

This year, Trish has returned to re-open her practice in Ellicott City, Maryland and would tell you that most of what moving to Florida was about has since been revealed.  If you’ve ever made a major change in “pure faith” you understand…  and if you haven’t well then Trish may be someone who can help you see your own way more clearly and move past what limits or holds you back!

Personally, Trish lives with her husband, her border collie therapy dog and a ragdoll cat . . . who is often in need of some serious therapy!

Trish also practices and teaches contemplative prayer and mindfulness meditation, trained in the work of  Jon Kabat-Zinn, Thomas Keating and Thich Nhat Hahn, and is currently ordained in an inclusive catholic tradition.  She would tell you, “There are many spiritual paths and I have travelled many of them in my life. I bring them all with me, and today I am very curious, interested and open to the ways in which each of us experiences the presence of something greater than ourselves.  Some call this presence God; some call it Nature; some call it Higher Power; and some call by no name at all.”

The spiritual journey is remarkably rich for those who are interested in it, but for healing it is only necessary to believe in the capacity of human beings to grow and change. With the right kind of help and just enough courage, we can make real and lasting changes and our lives will show it.
